TRANSFORMER!

primary coil and secondary coil is wounded in the opposite sides ofan iron core. the primary coil is connected to a battery and a switch, while the secondary coil is connected to a small lamp. when the switch is closed, the current in the coil increases, from zero to a maximum value. this produces an increasing magnetic field in the primary coil. this increasing magnetic field induces a current in the secondary coil which lights up the lamp. once the current in the primary core is steady, nomore changes occur and there is no induced current. the lamp goes off again.

when the swutch is opened, the current in the primary coil decreases to zero. this creates a decreasing magnetic field which induces a current in the oposite direction in the secondary coil and the almp flashes again. as an alternating current supply to the primary coil. the alternating current wil create a continually changing magnetic field which will induce a current in the secondary coil lighting the lamp all the time.

a set up transformer has more turns in the secondary coil than in the primary coil. this increases the voltage. a step down transformer decreases the voltage by hanving fewer turns in the secondary than in the primary coil.
